Anxiety and inability to relax in everyday life seems to be growing. From the left and the right, dragging us into the separation of the families and individuals in our United States. Worst of all, our children are inflicted indirectly or directly by our anxiety enhanced by the first feeling of food scarcity.
Seems just silly on the surface, but think about it. We buy our groceries 1.5 times a week. The days of filling a deep freezer with food to last a couple months or through the winter, and making homemade bread… are far behind nearly all of us. When you’re tight on money and an unexpected large expense hits you, there is no deep freezer to get you through, and you still have to feed yourself, or you and your family.
How does all of this play into politics you say? We allow politicians play with our daily lives by telling us what we want to hear, or not. Pitting us against the opponent they face. Promising to change the very things they have for generations, when in actuality, they have promoted. Using the very words we say and adamantly tell us we said something else, take out of context, paraphrase, or twist it to say the contrary. All to be newsworthy. Which becomes another facet of the political media machine.
Now that our air, or land, or water, or food, or all of the above we cannot for sure say is good or bad for us! Leaving us debating or waiting for our political leaders to do what is in the best interest of us, their constituents. But we do not seem to have the lobbying power and influence which the organizations have that strengthens their campaign.
Hurricanes, animal waste violating our water supplies and waterways, droughts and mass production food illnesses! They have become more frequent and newsworthy for a minute, then back to the business as usual. Patterns of weather that indicate a regional or global concern in the scientific population. They are dismissed by some politicians to satiate their constituents and focus on the short term getting elected frame of mind. The other side plays the game to discredit the other, while they themselves still do not pursue the best interest of the people.
We hunger for purpose, success, love. Some of us hunger for these at different levels. God gives us purpose and successes and love, and promises to always provide these. Most of us at one time or another (or often) have very different timing in mind for these things in our lives than our creator has planned for us. Basically, we want it when we want it. He will provide us opportunity to trust in him (Faith), and he will provide in His time.
The hunger for sustenance and food that will provide us health is satisfied daily and replenished weekly. Go a day or two without eating; many of you surely have either by choice or necessity. Humbling and scary at the same time. I pray for you all to be well.
