Chicago, what a great city!? Cook County, what a corrupt joke of a county. When you live in the Chicagoland area and especially Crook County, they look out for you. To pay extremely high property taxes and 3% more expected very soon, to catch you turning your car with a camera watching you. And not the least of all, but more directly related to my blogs, soda pop tax to the consumer! Not the companies that produce it.
We eat, we pay, we drink we pay, we work we pay, we drive and buy gas, we pay… taxes. I am not sure where to even start with my continued discos with our local governments that on one side of their mouth have the best interest in their community members, and if you listen and look closely enough, they take from you, because you deserve it.
Perhaps I am not a genius, but I do not make uncomplicated things complicated or difficult to understand. So let me try to explain some items that bother me somewhat when I have too much time to think about it.
- Soda tax on the consumer for their health: Why not the company that makes it or the company that sells it?
- Increase the homeowner’s property tax: Why not use the money they have and use it effectively and efficiently?
- 13,000 unused vacant residential properties: Try creative agriculture to educate, employ and feed Chicagoans.
- Unbalanced budgets: Stop taking from the citizens and use the intelligence and moral compass God gave you to make the hard, fair and correct long term decisions.
Kids and adults are fat, diabetic or attention deficit, or whatever other label the new or older physicians can create to make a buck and get the Scientific Journal to accept today. That way the parents or individuals knee jerk react directly to the doctor and get a prescription to make it better (hint: hide the root cause), or convince you it has been taken care of. Although you may have some side effect that will have to be understood and accepted. You’ll be alright. Until you’re not. Then you can just go back to the doctor, they’ll take care of you. DO YOU GET IT?
Now this may not be tax related, but after all the above doctor visits and analysis, you are most likely paying for the medication, doctor visit and rehab or diet books they prescribe. Oh, let’s not forget the Affordable Care Act where you work for your own family’s health insurance and for the rest of those that cannot afford it.
People are good (although Biblically were all sinners), and some/many individuals are just not. In some cases good people are not good by circumstance, or inability or willingness to handle the circumstance well. People in power are more susceptible or enabled to do wrong and/or be bad. When you negatively impact in part or are the cause to someone else’s unwell-being, you may need to look closely and see where it comes from and determine corrective action/s to take. Daily.
